We recently took a road trip around New Mexico, and saw some excellent places, many of which were scientific in nature. The Very Large Array in particular was quite something to see. They are a radio telescope facility, which detects all kinds of fabulous objects at ridiculously large distances from Earth.
These visits inspired me to try making some Spiral Galaxies in glass. I used medium sized frit in the colors of galaxies and nebulae to makes these. They’re a little rough and ready, but I think I can build on this. Meanwhile, enjoy the first two Galaxy Bowls.
